Emergency Fire Appliance Driver (EFAD) Instructor Course

This 10 day course is designed for organisations requiring in house EFAD Instructors in order to be able to deliver continuous training to established crews and new recruits.  It is ideal for situations where the emergency services have been contracted out such as on airports and large industrial sites.   The training is conducted by an Instructor who is a former Fire Service Driving Instructor with many years of experience in training Fire Service drivers in blue light conditions.

Prior to the training we can assist in the selection of suitable candidates if the role is being advertised to current staff members.

The 10 day course is based on the Police Driving Manual Roadcraft.

Days 1 to 5 consists of a mixture of theory and practical sessions designed to bring the delegates own driving skills in a fire appliance to a very high level. If feasible a skid pan session will be incorporated into the timetable.

Days 6 to 10  concentrates on the delegates' teaching skills including preparing and giving presentations, producing examination papers, route planning and instructional techniques and terminology.

On the road the delegates will assess and instruct each other,  establish fault analysis techniques, give feedback and produce written reports. Some sessions will be under blue light conditions as appropriate.

At the end of the course the delegates will sit the RoSPA Advanced Driving Test and receive a Certificate and full report on their progress over the course period.
