C, C1, D &  D1 Vocational Licence Test Preparation

PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT TRAIN INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC TO OBTAIN VOCATIONAL LICENCES

For corporate clients, local authorities, education authorities, schools, or other government agencies we will require an appropriate training vehicle and facilities for the training.  Courses can be held at any suitable location in the UK or Ireland.  We offer a full test application administration service or practical training only.

Full Administration Service

Includes a "Starter Pack" including a Licence Application form ( to get Provisional entitlement) and a Medical Form.   A "Test Pack" consisting of material to assist the driver to pass the Theory and Hazard Perception elements of the test, also "Driving Buses and Coaches"  or "The Official DSA Theory Test for Drivers of Large Vehicles (Driving Skills)", the "Roadsense - Hazard Perception" DVD, a copy of the latest Highway Code, and mock theory tests.

If required we can also run a Theory Test preparation day for the candidates at the normal instructor day rate - so if you have say 10 people attend the cost is quite low per head. This should ensure a better pass rate with a higher score for the delegates.

Practical Training

The length of the training depends on the calibre of candidate. If there are several candidates is worth running an evaluation day where an instructor can conduct one hour assessments for each driver so that their training programme can be adjusted accordingly.

We recommend training on a 2:1 ratio.  There are always exceptions to the rule but we anticipate that most delegates can be up to test standard in two days of intensive training or three if they are a little less experienced.

Practical  Test Preparation Only Service

Some clients undertake all of the pre practical training administration themselves and use our staff for the practical training.  If your HR or Training department need assistance we will be pleased to guide them on what is required.

Once the theory test has been passed and a test date obtained we can then assess the drivers and compile a training plan for them depending upon their ability.  If possible we will co-ordinate the training with their Test date. It depends on the local test centre waiting list but their target is to get 95% of applicants trained within two weeks of their requested date.

Please note that the test vehicle for Category D1 must be a Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) with 9-16 passenger seats with a Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM) of at least four tonnes, be of at least five metres in length and capable of 80 km/h (50 mph), have a Tachograph, ABS, seatbelts and examiner mirrors fitted.
